Actions

Multiple Attack Penalty (MAP)

If you use actions with the Attack trait more than once on the same turn, all attacks after your first become less effective. After using each Attack action, you gain a Multiple Attack Penalty point. For each Multiple Attack Penalty point, you take a -5 penalty on attack rolls (including spell attack rolls) and spell save DCs. Some actions, items, or feats may specify additional or alternative penalties based on Multiple Attack Penalty points. For example, you can use a weapon with the agile trait to reduce the penalty.

Multiple Attack Penalty points go away at the end of your turn. Attacks you make when it isn’t your turn (such as attacks made as part of a reaction) do not contribute Multiple Attack Penalty points. Actions do not have to involve attack rolls or save DCs to have the Attack trait. Many spells have the Attack trait to indicate that they still hinder making other attacks in the same turn.
