(Spell, Abjuration)
Cast ◆◆ Verbal, Somatic, Focus
Range 60 feet; Target one ongoing spell within range, or one creature actively casting a spell
You attempt to unravel the magic behind a spell. The target can be an ongoing spell, or you can target a caster as they attempt to cast a spell (via the Ready action, or against a channeled spell) to attempt to counteract their spell before it takes effect. Make a potency check (d20 + your level + your spellcasting ability modifier) against the caster’s spellcasting DC.
Success (+5) The spell ends immediately. If countering a spell, the caster loses the actions spent to cast the spell, but does not lose any other resources (Focus points, material components, etc.) required to cast the spell.
Success If the target is an ongoing spell that does not have a sustained duration, the spell ends immediately. Otherwise, the spell ends immediately unless the caster spends their reaction. If countering a spell, the caster loses the actions spent to cast the spell, but does not lose any other resources (Focus points, material components, etc.) required to cast the spell.
Failure No effect.
You may choose to Focus this spell after seeing the results.
